How the timeline is built
We allow one week for germination — a 15-hour dark soak followed by a few days in a damp paper towel in a sealed bag, kept completely dark — then two weeks as a seedling before true vegetative growth begins.
Photoperiod plants stay in veg until you flip the light to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Autoflowers ignore the photoperiod entirely and start flowering on their own internal clock around three weeks from sprout, which is why the veg field is disabled for them.
Drying and curing count
A proper dry takes 10-14 days at around 60F and 60% humidity. Rushing it in three days traps chlorophyll and gives you harsh, hay-smelling flower. Curing in jars for another two to four weeks is where the flavour actually develops.
Treat every date here as a plan, not a promise. When you get close, verify with a loupe — trichome colour is the real deadline.

- How long does it take to grow weed from seed to harvest?
- Photoperiod plants typically take 14-20 weeks total: 1 week germinating, 2-3 weeks as a seedling, 4-8 weeks in vegetative growth, 8-11 weeks flowering, and 2-3 weeks drying and curing. Autoflowers finish the whole cycle in 10-14 weeks.
- When exactly should I harvest?
- Trichome colour under a jeweller's loupe or a USB microscope is the only reliable signal. Mostly cloudy with roughly 10-20% amber gives a balanced effect. Clear trichomes mean too early; heavily amber means a heavier, more sedating result. Pistil colour alone is not accurate.
- Does the breeder's flowering time include the stretch?
- Usually yes — breeders count from the day you flip to 12/12, which includes the two to three weeks of stretch. Some count from the first visible pistils instead, which pushes the real date about a week later. Treat any listed time as an estimate and add a week of buffer.
- Why does my plant take longer than the seed pack says?
- Breeder times are measured under near-perfect conditions. Cool temperatures, low light intensity, small containers, and stress all extend flowering. Running one to two weeks past the stated time is completely normal for home growers.
