Carbon Filter Setup: Killing Grow Room Odor Properly
Odor control is a sealed-system problem. A perfect filter on a leaky tent does nothing, because unfiltered air escapes through the path of least resistance.
Order of operations
Filter inside the tent, connected to the fan, exhausting out. Pulling air through the filter is more effective than pushing air into it, and keeping the filter inside means every bit of air leaving the tent is scrubbed.
Negative pressure is the trick
Run the exhaust slightly stronger than your intake so the tent walls suck inward a little. Air then leaks in, not out, and no unfiltered air escapes through zippers or ports.
Filter lifespan
Quality carbon lasts roughly 12-24 months of continuous use. High humidity kills it much faster because water vapor occupies the carbon pores. If odor returns and airflow is unchanged, the carbon is spent.
