A female plant is stressed chemically to produce pollen, and that pollen is used on another female. With no male genetics involved, the resulting seeds are almost entirely female.

What still causes hermaphrodites

Light leaks during the dark period, severe heat, extreme drought or overwatering, heavy physical damage, and letting a plant go far past harvest window can all trigger male flowers on a female plant.

Light leaks are the most common cause in home tents. Check your tent with the lights off and the room dark — you should see nothing.

What to do if you spot nanners

A few pollen sacs can be removed carefully with tweezers if caught early. Widespread male flowers mean the plant will seed itself and its neighbors — isolate or remove it.
