Keep a Grow Journal: The Habit That Improves Every Run

Every experienced grower will tell you the same thing: the run where you started writing things down is the run where you started getting better.

What to log weekly

  • Date and day of veg or flower
  • Temperature and humidity, lights-on and lights-off
  • Light height and dimmer setting
  • Feed strength in ppm and pH, and runoff readings
  • Watering volume and date
  • Training or defoliation performed
  • One wide photo and one close-up under white light

Photograph under white light

Photos taken under a pink or purple LED are useless for diagnosing color problems later. Turn on a phone flashlight or a white work light.

Review before the next run

Read the whole journal before you plant again. The pattern you could not see week to week is obvious across twelve weeks.
