Sea of Green (SOG): Many Small Plants, Fast Turnaround
SOG trades plant size for plant count: many small plants flipped early, each producing a single main cola. It is the fastest route from start to harvest.
How it works
Veg clones or seedlings for only 2-3 weeks, then flip. Each plant makes one dominant cola. The canopy is filled by number of plants rather than by training a few plants wide.
The advantage
Shorter total cycle, minimal training work, and a very even canopy. Ideal with clones from a known mother.
The catch
Plant count limits. Most legal home-grow rules cap the number of plants per adult and per household, which often makes SOG impractical for home growers. Check your state and local plant limits before planning a SOG run.
Frequently asked questions
- SOG or SCROG for a home grower?
- SCROG, in almost every case, because plant-count limits push home growers toward fewer, larger plants.
