When to Stop Training Cannabis Plants

Training is a veg and early-flower activity. The plant tells you when it is done, and ignoring that signal costs real flower.

The cutoffs

  • Topping: stop 1-2 weeks before flip
  • LST and tucking: stop around week 2-3 of flower
  • Supercropping: stop at week 2 of flower
  • Heavy defoliation: stop at week 3 of flower
  • Lollipopping: stop at week 3 of flower

Why the stretch is the boundary

During the first two to three weeks of 12/12, stems are still growing and flexible and the plant recovers quickly. Once the stretch ends, energy goes entirely into flower production and every wound is a diversion.

What is still allowed late

Supporting heavy colas with stakes or netting, removing dead or moldy material, and pulling leaves that are already yellow and loose.
