Harvest Day Checklist: Everything to Have Ready
Harvest goes badly when it is improvised. Half an hour of preparation the day before turns a chaotic evening into a calm one.
Tools
- Two pairs of sharp spring-loaded trimming snips
- Isopropyl alcohol and a rag for resin buildup
- Nitrile gloves
- Clean bins or trays for trimmed flower
- A jeweler's loupe for one final trichome check
- Hangers, wire, or twine for the dry space
- A hygrometer and thermometer in the dry space
Prep the dry space first
Get the drying area stabilized at 60°F and 60% RH before you cut anything. Flower waiting in a pile while you fix humidity is flower starting to degrade.
Order of operations
Final trichome check, cut plant into manageable branches, remove large fan leaves, wet trim or hang whole depending on your climate, hang with space between branches, close the room, and leave it dark.

- Should I harvest at lights-on or lights-off?
- Many growers harvest at the end of a dark period, when terpene content is thought to be highest. The effect is small compared to dry and cure quality.
