How to Dry Cannabis: The 60/60 Rule
Drying is where most home harvests are ruined. A fast dry keeps chlorophyll and harshness in the flower and drives off the terpenes you spent three months building.
Conditions
60-65°F, 58-62% relative humidity, complete darkness, and gentle indirect air movement — never a fan pointed at the flower. Aim for 10-14 days.
Whole plant or branches
Hanging whole branches or the entire plant slows the dry because moisture must travel out through stems. That slower dry is the goal. Drying racks are faster and usually too fast.
The snap test
Bend a pencil-thick stem. If it bends, it is not ready. If it snaps cleanly with an audible crack while the bud interior still feels slightly springy, it is ready to jar.
What a bad dry looks like
Crispy outside and wet inside, a grassy hay smell, and flower that burns black. All three come from drying too fast, too warm, or in moving air.
