Long-Term Storage: Keeping Cured Flower Fresh
A perfect cure degrades quickly in the wrong jar. Four variables control shelf life, and three of them are free to fix.
The four enemies
UV light breaks down cannabinoids fastest. Heat accelerates every degradation reaction. Oxygen oxidizes THC toward CBN. Excess humidity invites mold, and too little makes flower brittle and flavorless.
The setup
Airtight glass jars, filled close to the top to reduce headspace air, in a dark cupboard at 60-70°F, with a 58% or 62% humidity pack. That combination holds quality for many months.
What to avoid
Plastic bags, which build static that strips trichomes and are not airtight. Clear jars on a shelf. Refrigerators, which cause condensation cycles. Freezers, unless the flower is fully stabilized and undisturbed.
